So my wedding ring went down the bath tub drain. This happened after hours. I immediately called Mike with Orion Plumbing praying he answered the call. Sure enough he did! Mike arrived first thing the next morning and surprisingly within 20 minutes retrieved my wedding ring from the P-trap. AND he found a water leak and fixed it! Mike is my hero!
We had a plumbing emergency and had no water. I called around all morning, trying to find help. It was a really difficult job. What to do while you wait
Four quick things that keep a plumbing problem from becoming a bigger one before help gets there.
Shut off the water
If water is coming out where it should not, stop it at the source. Every fixture has a shut-off behind or below it, and the whole house has a main valve, often near where the line enters the house or by the water meter.
Kill power to the area if it is wet
If water is near outlets, an electrical panel, or a water heater, switch off the breaker to that area before you go near it. Standing water and electricity do not mix.
Contain what you can
Towels, a bucket, and moving anything that can be damaged buys you time. You do not need to fix it, just keep it from getting worse until help arrives.
